How do you check an Eaton / Vickers replacement?
Interchangeability requires comparison of the specific version and its function in the machine.
A brand change is not a part replacement
Danfoss's acquisition of Eaton Hydraulics is not a cross-reference table. Compare legacy and current numbers at the level of the specific version. Omitting hyphens may simply be another way of writing the same code, but similar codes do not confirm compatibility.
What do we compare?
| Area | Information to check |
|---|---|
| Hydraulic function | Circuit diagram, spool positions, flow paths, piloting and unloading arrangement. |
| Operating conditions | Pressure, flow, rotational speed, load characteristics and fluid. |
| Mounting | Flange, shaft, mounting surface, cavity, threads and port arrangement. |
| Controls | Voltage, coil, connector, controller, signals and system behaviour. |
| Design series | Complete model code, part number, catalogue edition and additional markings. |
Examples of nameplate information
Include the DG4V, DG5V, PVQ, PVM or Char-Lynn family designation and the entire remaining code. Do not shorten it to the family or nominal size.
A new function instead of a like-for-like replacement?
If the system needs to work differently, the circuit or controls may need to change. This is a separate design task to agree before ordering components.
